La coppia esclusa dalla gara di Dancing with the stars di questa settimana è formata da Cal Wilson e Craig Monley. Andiamo a conoscere meglio i due protagonisti australiani.
Cal Wilson è la conduttrice radiofonica del programma di Nova Radio “The wrong way with Akmal, Ed and Cal”
Originaria di Christchurch, Cal Wilson ha esordito nella commedia con la compagnia di teatro Court Jesters che nel 1994 ha vinto i campionati del mondo di Theatresports a Los Angeles. Ha lavorato nella tv neozelandese, prendendo parte a “Pulp Comedy”, “Scared Scriptless” e “Street Legal”. Ha lavorato con la compagnia di teatro The improvisers e ha preso parte al festival del teatro dell’improvvisazione nel 1995.
Nel 2004 la rivista Metro Magazine la nomina miglior attrice di commedia dell’anno.
Cal Wilson è stata in tournèe per due volte in giro per l’Australia prendendo parte al festival della commedia internazionale di Melbourne nel 2002 e 2004.
Nel 2006 ha preso parte al festival della commedia internazionale di Melbourne e nel 2007 al Fringe Festival di Adelaide come interprete di “Up there Cal Wilson”. Nel 2008 ha recitato in “Cal Wilson Lively” al Fringe festival di Adelaide.
In televisione ha preso parte a spettacoli come “Skithouse”, “Rove Live”, “Thank God you’re here” e “Spicks and Specks”.
Nel 2007 ha preso parte allo spettacolo televisivo “The wedge”.
Cal Wilson lavora in radio in programmi come The triple M’s, The Shebang e Get this insieme a Tony Martin. Ha scritto per riviste come Cleo e She.
Per Craig Monley è la settima serie di Dancing with the stars. Il campione di ballo ha lavorato con la sua partner professionale per ben 11 anni.
Craig Monley si è trasferito a Londra nel 2005 trascorrendo due anni allenandosi e gareggiando nel Regno Unito. Ha vinto il primo posto di Ballo Latino ai campionati di Premiere Dancesport nella categoria non professionisti e ai campionati internazionali di Ballo della Corona.E’ arrivato secondo ai Campionati internazionali di Mega Stars, di ballo latino nella categoria non professionisti, ai JBDF Campionati internazionali del Giappone ed ai campionati vittoriani e ha raggiunto il terzo posto al campionato nazionale di ballo della capitale a Canberra. E’ stato insegnante di ballo per una delle scuole più competitive dell’Australia. Al momento Craig balla con Sriani Argaet in Australia nella categoria non professionisti .
Commentando la sua esperienza nel programma Dancing with the stars Cal Wilson sembra molto entusiasta.
Mi è piaciuto lavorare con Craig – afferma – è una persona adorabile. Mi è piaciuta molto la coreografia dei passi che Craig ha creato. La cosa più difficile per me è stato rimanere calma e avere fiducia di potercela fare.” Cal ha quindi sfidato se stessa partecipando a Dancing with the Stars in un ruolo nuovo, apprendendo da un grande campione di ballo come Craig Monley. Ora tornerà quindi al suo lavoro a tempo pieno a Radio Nova mentre Craig Monley riprenderà a ballare con la sua partenr Sriani Argaet nella categoria non professionisti.

Il programma si basa sul format originale della rete televisiva britannica BBC: Strictly Come Dancing. L’Australia è stato il primo paese a riadattare il programma tv della BBC. This week Nova Radio host Cal Wilson and her partner Craig Monley were eliminated from the dance competition of Dancing with the stars. Let’s know better the two Australian dance partners. NOVA’s dynamo of drive Cal Wilson is part of ‘The Wrong Way Home With Akmal, Ed and Cal’, NOVA’s national drive radio program. Originally from Christchurch, Wilson started in comedy with the Court Jesters improv company, which won the 1994 World Theatresports Championships in Los Angeles. She continued to appear on New Zealand television, featuring in all seven series of the national showcase Pulp Comedy, the series Scared Scriptless and various dramas, including a core cast role in Street Legal. Cal Wilson continued to wing it with professional company The Improvisers, and was subsequently invited to perform at the International Theatre Improvisation Festival in 1995. In the 2004 Metro Magazine named her Best Comedian of the Year. Cal Wilson has toured Australia twice as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow in 2002 and 2004 and performed her one-woman show ‘Up There Cal Wilson’ at the 2007 Adelaide Fringe Festival and 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. She recently performed ‘Cal Wilson Lively’ at the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival. Cal Wilson followed this with appearances on comedy and panel shows Spicks and Specks, Good News Week and Thank God You’re Here. In 2007 she took part to the show the “Wedge”. She has appeared on radio with Triple M’s The Shebang and Get This with Tony Martin. She has written for Cleo and She magazines.
Dancing With The Stars series seven champ Craig Monley has been dancing with his professional partner for 11 years. Monley moved to London in 2005, spending two years training and competing in the United Kingdom. Craig Monley gained first place in the Amateur Latin category of Premiere Dancesport Championships and the Crown International Dancesport Championships. He also came second in the Amateur Latin categories for the Mega Stars International Championships, the JBDF Japan International Championships and the Victorian Championships and clinched third spot at the National Capital Dancesport Championship in Canberra. Craig Monley has been a dance instructor for one of Australia’s largest competitive studios. At the moment he’s dancing with his partner Sriani Argaet in Australia in the Amateur Category. Talking about her experience in the tv show dancing with the stars, Cal Wilson is really enthusiastic. “I loved working with Craig, – she says – he’s such a lovely guy. I really enjoyed learning and seeing the choreography Craig came up with.” Cal Wilson challenged herself joining dancing with the stars in this new role, learning from the great dance teacher, Craig Monley. Now she’s coming back to her full time job at Nova Radio and Craig is going to dance again with his partner Sriani Argaet in the Amateur category.
